About Our Hospital
Kindred Hospital San Gabriel Valley, located in West Covina, is a 76-bed, Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospital licensed by the state of California. We specialize in caring for medically complex, catastrophically ill, ethnically diverse populations that require a longer recovery time than is normally available in the short-term acute care settings. We offer a full range of services in long-term acute care.
We feature:
- intensive care services with 6 state-of-the-art ICU beds
- 24-hour telemetry heart monitoring
- comprehensive acute level of care in 70 licensed beds
- fully integrated professional services including, but not limited to, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, pharmaceutical services, social services, dialysis, speech pathology, dietician services and a nationally certified wound care nurse overseeing wound care services
While our reputation is based upon the innovative management of ventilator-dependent individuals, all acutely ill patients are considered for admission regardless of their prognosis. Kindred is recognized for expertise in resolving the needs of this medically complex patient group through our multidisciplinary approach to medicine.
About Our Environment
We create a caring environment that optimizes the use of technology and healing sciences, with a goal of making patients, family, visitors, physicians and employees feel better having experienced Kindred Hospital San Gabriel Valley.
About Our Purpose
Our purpose is to provide long-term acute care through the delivery of a wide range of specialized healthcare services. Our patients are catastrophically ill, medically complex, with special needs beyond the scope of most short-term care facilities. Because of the long-term nature of the care provided we embrace the need to establish close communicative relationships with our patients and families. We know these patients often have multiple systems issues. We will provide an environment that encourages collaborative care planning by our multidisciplinary healthcare teams. We maintain a high level of performance in the critical specialties required by our patients: ventilator care, wound care, infection control, nursing, social services, nutrition and rehabilitative therapies. We create an atmosphere where we can meet the varied and complex needs of our patients and fulfill our primary goal of helping them to achieve the highest level of function possible. We involve patients and families in care decisions. If determined by the patient or their loved ones, that heroic measures are either undesirable or not beneficial, we guarantee our patients dignity, respect and freedom from pain as we allow them to determine the intensity and duration of the interventions provided at the end of life.
